How long do we have to file a MO HealthNet claim?
12 months from the date of service, measured from the date of service. A claim received in the first 12 months and denied may be resubmitted within 24 months of the date of service; adjustments to a paid claim within 24 months. When does a Missouri payer have to pay a clean claim?
30 processing days from receipt to send a status notice and, if the claim is clean, pay or deny it; 10 processing days after receipt of additional information; 5 processing days after a final information request (RSMo 376.383) A claim sitting past that is not merely late, it is late against a statute, and the follow-up call changes from "when might this be paid" to "this passed your statutory window on a specific date".
